NYAMM MIAMI
A new chapter
Hi I'm Sonya - a mother, daughter, friend and a proprietor of Caribbean Lifestyle and Culinary Culture. I'm the owner of Bacchanal Sauce, which blossomed from a pepper seed of an idea to a booming hot sauce brand with restaurant spaces in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and the Caribbean. I'm the winner of the (Citi) Citibank Urbanspace Challenge and have been featured at the New York Times, Time Out New York, Essence, New York Public Radio (WNYC), Edible Brooklyn and profiled in the cookbook Made in Brooklyn: An Essential Guide to the Borough's Artisanal Food & Drink Makers
I was also at the forefront of Brooklyn's emerging artisan food movement, giving advice to new makers on production steps and timelines, co-creating Batchery, a Brooklyn marketplace designed to bring together the city's next generation of small-batch food makers and featured on such stages as MOFAD to share my insight on Caribbean food ways and changes in New York's culinary landscape. Former restaurant owner. I built, I closed during Covid like many of us, I stepped back to raise my son. Now I'm back - in Miami -building what I know is missing: fast, fresh, clean Caribbean bowls made for everyday lunch.
This new part of my journey is expanding my footprint of what I know best, sharing the buoyant richness of Caribbean food and culture. I believe good food creates memories and moments. It should transport you. I hope you will join me in this new chapter with NYAMM MIAMI.
Your's always Sonya
